As in the previous years, AYY’s operating grant is applied for the year 2012 in the spring. We recommend that you mark down in your calendar the dates Thursday, 1 March, when the application system will open and Sunday, 1 April, when it will close.

You can already read AYY.fi section ”Grants for Associations” (/en/associations/grants-for-associations/), so that you are aware of the obligations that the association has in order to receive the operating grant. There may be changes made to the scoring model of the grants on the website in early February. The English and Swedish translations of the scoring model will be available at the end of February.

3. COME TO POLIJAZZ COURSE ”INTERPRETATION OF MUSIC AND IMPROVISATION IN PARTNER DANCES”

In February, Dance Association Polijazz will arrange a unique concise course with the theme ”Interpretation of Music and Improvisation in Parter Dances. This partner dance course will focus on improvisation, the interpretation of music and the contact between the partners. These themes are practised with two common partner dances that differ from each other: the one is soft and slow waltz and the other is rhythmic disco dance, bugg. The aim is to learn how to ”colour” dance within the setting provided by a certain dance type or style. In the course, participants vary steps, dance positions, patterns and body use.  The aim is to develop the creativity to transfer the mood of the music into a movement.

INTERPRETATION OF MUSIC AND IMPROVISATION IN PARTNER DANCES

You do not need your own partner! Course teachers are Lotta Lehvävirta and Heru Reksoprodjo. Teaching is arranged in Finnish and English.

REGISTRATION

We hope that participants have previous dance experience, either from partner or solo dance, as well as the courage to put their own creativity and skills in the game. Previous experience from bugg or slow waltz is not necessary.

The course fee is €25 and it is paid to Polijazz account 130930-59683, Nordea Otaniemi, with the reference number 26 before the beginning of the course. You can sign up for the course by email at   emma.partanen(a)aalto.fi. Polijazz classes are intended primarily for students. If there is space in the class, also other than students are welcome.
