1. SUBMIT YOUR EVENTS FOR AYY’S ACADEMIC YEAR CALENDAR 2012-2013
Associations and actors within AYY have the opportunity to submit important event dates for the student union’s academic year calendar. Events can be submitted through the google docs file linked below until Sunday, 27 May 2012. Please add your events under the correct month in chronological order. Please enter the text you want in the calendar ”Event name/Text” field (yellow background). Please note that one line can hold up the maximum of 25 characters of text, including spaces. When writing the text, please consider how many lines from your own calendar you wish to be ”wasted”. The calendar is trilingual so please take this into account when planning the text.
If there are several events marked on the same date, the event that concerns most of the students will end up in the calendar. The file is editable until the provided deadline 27 May 2012, until which you can make changes to your events. Please fill out the columns carefully, and check and double check that the information is correct. Please also remember to include information on who is organising the event.

4. AFYE PROVIDES FUNDING FOR EVENT ORGANISING
Aalto First Year Experience (AFYE) is a project offered by Aalto University, which aim is to welcome new students to the university and open a window to various opportunities offered by Aalto without clinging to the borders of the scientific fields. AFYE means everything that is related to the reception of new students as part of Aalto community during the first year of studies. Orientations and tutor activities of the schools are part of AFYE’s concept. In addition, we organise various events and advertise opportunities concerning the new students on our website.
AFYE invites student organisations, guilds and associations to create an incredible first year for new students and show everything that Aalto has to offer. AFYE provides funding for event organising, which are targeted to new students during the next academic year. 3. NEW ONLINE SERVICE OSUMA IS LOOKING FOR ASSISTANTS
Fonecta is introducing a new online service called ”Osuma” (available at osuma.fi). Now we need smart writers who are interested in the development of business services in order to get the service to grow and make it as reliable as possible before a major launch. Osuma.fi is a service that provides consumers with reliable and objective information on various business services – whether they are restaurants, car repair shops, renovation companies or clothing stores, for example. The service lists the services needed by customers, such as restaurants in Helsinki, to a rank order based on the received consumer assessments. The service is free for consumers and companies.
In order to make the service as reliable as possible, we naturally need as many assessments as possible on different companies. Now we need a little help from talented writers, as we want the service to function as well as possible at the introduction stage and have so many assessments that
reviews are reliable. The service already has quite a large number of assessments, but it has been quite challenging to receive long assessments (500 characters or more), and now we need help for that. The idea is to find a few groups who use services in the metropolitan area in their everyday lives and who could commit to write these longer assessments for us in May-June – and naturally receive compensation for one’s community/association. In the service, reviewers use their own name (first name + the first letter of the surname) and a photo so you should be prepared for that. You can see an example of the profile and assessments in my profile: http://www.osuma.fi/profile/1334815.
If you think that this kind of a job would be interesting for you and your reference group, please get in touch quickly! We want to begin this project in early May, so please act fast. Further information: Hanna Isohanni-Nikula, 040 777 4241, hanna.isohanni-nikula@fonecta.com.
