1. AUTUMN COURSES AT UNISPORT TÖÖLÖ

2. LIIKU NIIN VOIT

Liiku niin voit is a service offered by UniSport for students who feel themselves physically inactive. It is aimed at students who either need a little kick for starting to exercise or for those who need help in the beginning. The service is provided in cooperation with the Finnish Student Health Service (YTHS). The webpage of the service is available only in Finnish at the moment, but if you are interested in the service you can contact directly Matti Villgren from UniSport (matti.villgren@helsinki.fi).

3. CITY OF HELSINKI OFFERS FREE ICE-SKATING SLOTS FOR THE CITIZENS

City of Helsinki organizes free of charge skating hours in Helsinki’s indoor ice rinks for the citizens. There are different slots available for those who want to skate with or without the hockey sticks. There is a possibility to sharpen the skates at Malmi and Paloheinä indoor ice rinks. 4. CITY OF ESPOO OFFERS FREE ICE-SKTING SLOTS FOR THE CITIZENS

City of Espoo organizing free of charge skating hours in the following indoor ice rinks: Espoonlahti, Matinkylä and Laaksolahti, and in addition at Barona Areena and Reebok Areena. Check out the timetable here (in Finnish).

5. FC NAME IS LOOKING FOR NEW FEMALE FOOTBALL PLAYERS FOR THEIR TEAM

Do you want to play football, but you do not have anyone to play it with? Join FC NAMU. FC NAMU is a football team consisting of students from Helsinki University and Sibelius Academy, but FC NAMU welcomes everyone regardless of skills and the home university. All FC NAMUs share good spirit, enthusiasm and will to learn new things.

The team is training at Kumpula’s sports center on Wednedays at 8-9pm. All you need with you is indoor shoes. The team is participating futsal series in the winter. FC NAMU is playing outdoors during the summer when possible. Indoor training sessions at Kumpula costs 30-40€/per season for students and 50-70€/per season for others. Come and try out! 6. MEETING FOR AALTO UNIVERSITY’S TOP-ATHLETES OR ATHLETES STRIVING TO THE TOP ON THURSDAY 27TH OF SEPTEMBER

Are you a top-athlete or an athlete striving to the top and studying at the Aalto University? Come and meet other top-athletes or future top-athletes who are studying at Aalto and exchange the ideas and experiences of what it is to combine student life and top-level sports. There you also have an opportunity to learn more about Metropolitan Sports Academy URHEA. The program of the evening is very informal and relaxed. The evening is held on Thursday 27th of September at 2-4pm at Jämeräntaival 3 A. The exact location is “takkakabinetti”. The little snacks will be served during the event. Registrations latest on 24th of September to liikunta@ayy.fi.

7. BATTLE FOR THE MASTERY OF OTANIEMI ON 4TH OF OCTOBER

Aalto-Liike will organise a battle for the mastery of Otaniemi on 4 Oct 2012. At the forefront of Otaniemi, you will fight in a laser battle, the concept familiar from Megazone. The tournament consists of 16 teams with ten players per team. The game mode is open for now, but most likely we will play Capture the Flag game with some modifications. The weapons use infrared laser in order to function, so you do not have to worry about protection. We have 40 weapons of which 20 are constantly in use. The event lasts for about 8 hours, and a single fight lasts about half an hour. Each fight is a qualification game.

The participation fee is €100/team or €10 per participant. Payment instructions will follow later with the game programme and other useful stuff. Registrations will be accepted in the order of registration. Registration is binding and you can sign up your team with an e-mail with your contact information to oliver.heinonen@ayy.fi

8. AALTO-KYMPPI ON 22ND OF SEPTEMBER

Aalto-kymppi, the kick-off event of the Aalto University academic year in terms of sports, will be organized on 22 September 2012. The event will start at the Otahalli sports hall. The event, starting at 3.00 p.m, is intended for anyone who wishes to take part in the 10-kilometre event in any way they seem fit: walking, jogging, running, forwards, backwards, or any other way. If you wish, you may also stop to admire the incredibly beautiful scenery along the route.

The course runs along the Espoo Waterfront Walkway from Keilaniemi to Otsolahti, and under Kehä I back to the Walkway in Otaniemi. The race finishes in the Otaniemi sports field. Before the race, there will be a joint warm up session for all participants, and a prize will be awarded to the Aalto Athlete of the Year.

All participants from Aalto are granted a free technical sports shirt with Aalto and Rantamaraton logos. Aalto University will pay the Aalto-kymppi participation fee for all its students, staff and alumni.

Register for Aalto-kymppi here. Last day for registration is 14th of September with timekeeping. If you wish to participate without timekeeping, you can register even in the morning of the event. When you register, please indicate the name of your school/department or team. Remember also to fill in your student number.
