2. ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER WILL BE ON A SUMMER BREAK AFTER NEXT WEEK

The association newsletter will be published once more on next week’s Friday, 24 May. After that, the newsletter will be on a summer break and will be published again in September. If you want to have your news or information about the summer events of your organisation included in the last newsletter, please submit your brief release to the address jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi.

3.  SUBMIT YOUR ASSOCIATION EVENTS FOR AYY’S POCKET CALENDAR NOW

Associations and actors within AYY have the opportunity to submit important event dates for the student union’s academic year calendar. Events can be submitted through the Google Docs file linked below until Sunday, 26 May 2013. Please add your events under the correct month in chronological order. Please enter the text you want in the calendar ”Event name/Text” field (yellow background). Please note that one line can hold up the maximum of 25 characters of text, including spaces. When writing the text, please consider how many lines from  your own calendar you wish to be ”wasted”. The calendar is trilingual so please take this into account when planning the text.

If there are several events marked on the same date, the event that concerns most of the students will end up in the calendar. The file is editable until the provided deadline 26 May 2013, until which you can make changes to your events. Please fill out the columns carefully, and check and double check that the information is correct. Please also remember to include information on who is the organiser of the event.

Submit your event at: http://tinyurl.com/ayycalendar2013. Questions and comments to AYY’s Communications Officer Henna Lahti (henna.lahti@ayy.fi or 050 5209440).

4. JOIN THE SAILING DEMONSTRATIONS OF TEEKKARI SAILORS

Are you interested in sailing? Would you like to try it out? Join the sailing demonstrations of Teekkari Sailors, more familiarly known as TRIP!

Sailing demonstrations are particularly designed for new students and other students interested in our activities who are not yet members of TRIP. Sailing demonstrations are free and you can participate without any previous sailing experience. Demonstrations are mostly organised in the evenings. Skipper and helmsman participate in the demonstration. 4-5 persons can participate in one demonstration where you raise the sails and sail adjacent waters for a few hours. Usually there is an opportunity to go ashore to an island or Suomenlinna.

Further information and registration link can be found by following the link to TRIP’s website: http://trip.ayy.fi/wordpress/?page_id=200. The entire TRIP Board cordially welcomes you to sail!

5. KYL TO PUBLISH A GROUNDBREAKING POEM ALBUM IN JUNE

In June, Helsinki Academic Male Choir (KYL) will publish a record consisting of male choir compositions based on poems of Larin-Kyösti. The album is groundbreaking in the Finnish choral scene, as its focus is solely on one poet’s lyrics and the expedition to the diverse stories of human life which they present.

The album release concert will be held at Aalto University School of Economics Hall (Runeberginkatu 14-16, Helsinki) on Wednesday, 5 June 2013, 7pm. Tickets (€15/10) can be purchased from Lippupalvelu (http://www.lippupalvelu.fi/artist/kyl-lippuja/873378), directly from the choir members or at the entrance before the event starts. As usual, the choir is conducted by Matti Apajalahti.

6. PARTICIPATE IN THE MAKING OF ESPOO CINÉ FESTIVAL!

Every year, a large group of volunteers participate in the making of Espoo Ciné Film Festival (16-25 Aug 2013), without whom the festival would simply not exist. Voluntary workers get to see the festival films for free, have free meals every day, get a staff t-shirt and the festival catalogue, as well as a letter of reference at request. And when the festival is over, there is a party for the volunteers. Many volunteers have such a good time that they come back year after year to build this warm-hearted festival together.

Join the hustle of the first film festival of the autumn, and go behind the scenes to look how the film festival with 25,000 visitors is organised. Tasks vary from ticket sales to info desk and decorating. You can participate as long as you are over 18-years old, have an active attitude and you are willing to sacrifice your time in good company. Help is needed particularly during the festival, but also a few weeks before it.

Further information and registration form are available at: http://www.espoocine.fi/2013/talkoolaiset.
