2. EVENT INFORMATION ON AYY.FI AND AYY’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

The electronic event calendar on AYY.fi was renewed during the summer. In this context, it is good to remind the associations that each association is responsible for adding their own events in the electronic event calendar of AYY.fi. This can be done with usernames created for associations, which are also used for the administration of the association profile on AYY.fi. Usually information on single events is not added to AYY’s weekly newsletter separately, but the communications officer will pick events for the weekly newsletter from the event calendar on AYY.fi. Therefore, if you want your event to be added to AYY’s weekly newsletter, it is enough that you add your event to the event calendar of AYY.fi with your own username. If you have lost your username or need help in adding your event, you can send e-mail to jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi.

3. NOMINATE NEW HONORARY MEMBERS FOR THE GUILD OF THE ROUND TOWER

Nominations for honorary members of the Guild of the Round Tower can be submitted to ehdota-arwoisia@list.ayy.fi until 10.11am on 10 Oct 2013. Nominations should include the nominee’s name, e-mail address and picture, as well as grounds for the nomination and the contact information of the persons who submitted the nomination. Persons who are at the final stage of their studies or who have recently graduated and have shown continuous interest in the culture of engineering students and other student activities at Aalto University and promoted its development in the Student Union or its associations may be nominated for the position of an honorary member. The nomination can be made by an individual, guild or association, or by several people, guilds or associations together. Further information is available at www.ptk.ayy.fi. (in Finnish)

4. PARTICIPATE IN AALTO CHALLENGE EVENT

During the spring and summer, ten of Aalto’s sports associations have planned an event for the autumn of 2013 together with AYY, the purpose of which is to make Aalto students more familiar with the activities of Aalto’s sports associations. The event called Aalto Challenge will be arranged in Otaniemi on Wednesday, 2 October, as part of the well-being week of Aalto. Aalto Challenge consists of a laid-back fair, where associations can tell about their activities and organise tryouts at Alvari Square in Otaniemi and more competitive orienteering contest, where teams go through check points organised by associations on the route Otaniemi-Meilahti-Otaniemi (in the same way as in KY City Challenge). Registrations and further information on the event: http://aaltochallenge.ayy.fi/.

8. FILM CLUB MONTAASI’S NARROW-FILM COURSE

In the legendary film-making course of Montaasi during the weekend between 4-6 Oct, we go through the basics of script writing, visual narration, lighting and filming, as well as shoot short films in groups to 8 mm colour film. The course thus provides a unique opportunity to make a film to narrow-film which becomes rarer each year. Films are sent to the laboratory to be developed, after which they are edited in Montaasi’s film cutting room at times agreed upon by the groups. Cutting is carried out with the so-called classical method, by cutting and taping. Fifteen people may attend the course and the price is EUR 20 for Montaasi members. If you are not a member yet, you can pay the membership fee of EUR 10 in connection with the course fee. You can become a member at montaasi.ayy.fi. More information and registrations via e-mail: montaasi(at)list.ayy.fi
