1. OPERATING GRANT APPLICATION PERIOD AND THE SUBMITTING OF ASSOCIATION NOTICES TO BEGIN ON 1 MARCH

The submitting of AYY’s annual association notices and the application period for the operating grant will begin in a few days at midnight on Sunday, 1 March and end on Tuesday, 31 March at the turn of the month. All associations approved in the first list of AYY’s association register may apply for the operating grant. All associations operating within AYY, however, must fill in the association notice. If the association notice is not submitted in two consecutive years, the association may be removed from AYY’s association register.  If you are uncertain whether your association belongs to the first or the second list, please contact the organisation specialist (jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi).

Associations submit the association notice and apply for the operating grant by using a brand new database Tahlo (operating grant application form). The system is available at http://tahlo.ayy.fi. More specific instructions for the operating grant applications and the submitting of association notices (e.g. The list of required documents) is available here.

Please fill in all the information carefully. When you use the system for the first time, you need to fill in plenty of information, so please reserve enough time and be on time! The next time will be easier as the information will be copied from previous years. You may update information until the forms close at 11.59pm on 31 Mar, so you do not have to remember everything at once. Please remember to save any changes!

If you encounter any problems, typos or other errors in the system, please contact jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi. We try to be alert if the system crashes, for example, but if you report any problems, we can react faster.

Please remember that the precondition for the payment of the operating grant is that the association has the association profile on AYY’s website at least in one domestic languages (Finnish or Swedish) and in English. Further information is available here.

The operating grants and association notices are processed as quickly as possible. This year, however, their allocation and payment may occur later in May due to the parliamentary elections and the capping of Manta statue.

Please note! In 2015, increased operating grants are not allocated at all. You can apply for funding from TTE-Fund for all projects outside continuous operations and for new spectacular ideas (tter.fi).

If you need further information, please send e-mail to jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi. At the same address, you get further information and help with the association notice and the applications. You can also get in touch by telephone at 050 520 9442. The best time to reach the organisation specialist by telephone is on weekdays between 10am and 2pm.

2. PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST AND WIN RANTASAUNA AND THE HOT TUB FOR YOUR ASSOCIATION’S USE!

The housing carnival is organised at Alvari Aukio Square at 12noon-4pm on Friday, 20 Mar. The purpose of the event is to build a student housing village in four hours. The event spreads information about the importance of student housing construction grants before the elections. The message is particularly current now as there have been suggestions to decrease the grants. At worst, this may be realised in the students’ rents as increases of even EUR 50-100 when constructing new housing.

In the housing carnival, associations compete to build student housing. The jury, which consists of the parliamentary election candidates, among others, will evaluate the buildings. The winning association is rewarded with one free reservation for Rantasauna and the hot tub. The building style is completely up to you, you can make an apartment from tarps, tent fabric, leca blocks or red bricks. The most important aspects are style and attitude. AYY has provided construction equipment which you can use. You can also use your own equipment and the first 10 construction groups receive compensation for expenses up to EUR 100 per association.

The purpose of the team is to distribute food (requires about 3-4 people) and be in charge of the final cleaning. The fee is EUR 300 and we only recruite one group. 5.  PRESENT YOUR ASSOCIATION ON THE RADIO!

Radiodiodi is the common radio station of Aalto University students. This year, we have broadcasts on 20-30 Apr. The year 2015 is the fourth year of operations in the current form.

Many associations and association members have noticed that it is difficult to have young and new persons to join the associations. One of the reasons is that they have not heard about anything interesting. Radiodiodi offers the associations the opportunity to tell about their association and other interesting things. Usually, the programmes where associations have made their own thing with their own style have not been very popular.

If you do not have any ideas on what kind of programme you could make, Radiodiodi can help you to create ideas. Radiodiodi also gives advise on how to act in the studio and provides support in the studio for the technical aspects of the programme. The info and sauna evening is organised at Ossinlinna at 6pm on 13 Mar, where we tell you about the making of a radio programme. We also provide snacks.
