The Student Union of Aalto university, AYY, is putting forward Jimmy Nylund for the Board of SYL, the National Union of University Students for 2017. Nylund is a 26-year-old student of engineering and he has worked on the board of AYY this year. He has been responsible for training and social policy, so he has extensive experience of the whole field of student advocacy. Previously, Nylund has acted on the Board of the Swedish-language students’ association of Aalto University, Teknologföreningen as a student advocate.

“Jimmy is a rock-solid student advocate whose wide expertise and productive approach to work would surely be an asset in SYL too. This year, Jimmy has taken care of many student advocacy issues in an exemplary manner, particularly at national level,” says the Chair of the Board of AYY, Milja Asikainen.

“Next year, I would hope that SYL would be close operator that’s easy to approach for both the boards and councils of student unions. On the Board of SYL I would get more strongly involved in influencing society and changing it into a better direction. I’m sure that my passion, experience and know-how would be an excellent part of the Board of SYL,” says Jimmy Nylund.

SYL is selecting the Board for 2017 in its assembly in Korpilampi, Espoo on the 18th and 19th of November. SYL represents the university students of Finland at a national level and takes a stance on training policy, social policy and international issues.
