Sailing demonstrations are particularly designed for new students and other students interested in our activities who are not yet members of TRIP. Sailing demonstrations are free and you can participate without any previous sailing experience. Demonstrations are mostly organised in the evenings. Skipper and helmsman participate in the demonstration. 4-5 persons can participate in one demonstration where you raise the sails and sail adjacent waters for a few hours. Usually there is an opportunity to go ashore to an island or Suomenlinna.

Further information and registration link can be found by following the link to TRIP’s website: http://trip.ayy.fi/wordpress/?page_id=200. The entire TRIP Board cordially welcomes you to sail!

5. KYL TO PUBLISH A GROUNDBREAKING POEM ALBUM IN JUNE

In June, Helsinki Academic Male Choir (KYL) will publish a record consisting of male choir compositions based on poems of Larin-Kyösti. The album is groundbreaking in the Finnish choral scene, as its focus is solely on one poet’s lyrics and the expedition to the diverse stories of human life which they present.

The album release concert will be held at Aalto University School of Economics Hall (Runeberginkatu 14-16, Helsinki) on Wednesday, 5 June 2013, 7pm. Tickets (€15/10) can be purchased from Lippupalvelu (http://www.lippupalvelu.fi/artist/kyl-lippuja/873378), directly from the choir members or at the entrance before the event starts. As usual, the choir is conducted by Matti Apajalahti.

6. PARTICIPATE IN THE MAKING OF ESPOO CINÉ FESTIVAL!

Every year, a large group of volunteers participate in the making of Espoo Ciné Film Festival (16-25 Aug 2013), without whom the festival would simply not exist. Voluntary workers get to see the festival films for free, have free meals every day, get a staff t-shirt and the festival catalogue, as well as a letter of reference at request. And when the festival is over, there is a party for the volunteers. Many volunteers have such a good time that they come back year after year to build this warm-hearted festival together.

Join the hustle of the first film festival of the autumn, and go behind the scenes to look how the film festival with 25,000 visitors is organised. Tasks vary from ticket sales to info desk and decorating. You can participate as long as you are over 18-years old, have an active attitude and you are willing to sacrifice your time in good company. Help is needed particularly during the festival, but also a few weeks before it.

Further information and registration form are available at: http://www.espoocine.fi/2013/talkoolaiset.

1. SUBMITTING OF ASSOCIATION NOTICES AND THE APPLICATION PERIOD OF THE OPERATING GRANT 2013

The submitting of AYY’s association notices and the application period for the operating grant is ongoing and will end on Monday, 1 April. All associations approved in the first list of AYY’s association register may apply for the operating grant. Associations in the second list of the association register and those associations which do not apply for financial assistance this year only have to fill out the association notice section at the beginning of the application form. Please note that each association in AYY’s association register must submit at least one association notice. If the association notice is not submitted in two consecutive years, the association will be removed from AYY’s association register.

The application form is available at https://lomake.ayy.fi/yhdistykset/ayyn-toiminta-avustushakemus-2013/. Further information on the application is available at /apurahat-yhdistyksille/, which includes the scoring model used for the allocation of the operating grants and the grant amounts of the previous year. You should also bear in mind that the prerequisite for the operating grant is the association profile at AYY.fi, and the associations are responsible for updating their profiles. If you have lost your user name or otherwise need help with updating your profile, you can send e-mail to jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi. At the same address, you can receive additional information and help with the association notice and the operating grant application. You can also contact us by phone at 050 520 9442. The best time to reach the organisation specialist by phone is on weekdays from 10am to 2pm.

Please enter the text you want in the calendar ”Event name/Text” field (yellow background). Please note that one line can hold up the maximum of 25 characters of text, including spaces. When writing the text, please consider how many lines from  your own calendar you wish to be ”wasted”. The calendar is trilingual so please take this into account when planning the text.

If there are several events marked on the same date, the event that concerns most of the students will end up in the calendar. The file is editable until the provided deadline 26 May 2013, until which you can make changes to your events. Please fill out the columns carefully, and check and double check that the information is correct. Please also remember to include information on who is organising the event.

 4. BRIEFING FOR TENANTS AND LEASEHOLDERS: JÄMERÄNTAIVAL 1

The building JÀmerÀntaival 1 will be renovated. The renovation will mainly consist of updating the HVAC systems of the building and improving the equipment in the bathrooms and the shared apartment common kitchens.

The renovation will be done in three partitions. The partition being renovated won’t be in normal accommodation use while the work is in progress. The contractor will determine the order in which the partitions will be renovated. The total duration of the renovation will be approximately 12 months and the work will begin in October 2013.

Because of the renovation, the leases of the tenants have to be terminated in stages. The leases will be terminated using 6 months notice period.

The tenants who will have to move out because of the renovation will be offered an option to move into another AYY shared apartment in Teekkari Village. More info about applying for the replacement apartment and information about the renovation in general can be read here: http://tinyurl.com/JMT1-peruskorjaus.

A briefing will be organized for all the tenants and leaseholders of the JÀmerÀntaival 1 about the renovation. The briefing will be held on Tuesday 26.3.2013 at 17:00-18:00 in the big side of Otakaari 20.
