Again this year, AYY’s organisational sector organises training for old and new association operators in the autumn and winter. Now we are interested to hear what kind of training you think you will need. You can respond to the brief inquiry at here. You can also send feedback and requests by email to jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi

2. JOIN THE NIGHT AT THE CAMPUS EVENT AT SENATE SQUARE – SIGN UP BY TUE, 4 SEPT

Is there something you have always wanted to do at Senate Square? Come and do it with your organisation! On Monday, 10 Sept, 5pm-10.30pm, we will organise Night at the Campus event related to World Student Capital project, where students take over Senate Square. The event will include performers, tents, food stalls and all kinds of other activities!

We also want to give organisations and student groups the opportunity to have a memorable evening. At the square, there will be marquees for organisations and a separate platform for various theatre groups and other performers. MIAU, a band which performed at Flow Festival, will perform on the big stage, and there are also discussions on issues related to students. So you can organise pop up theatre, discussions, competitions or tug of war, for example. Anything that describes your organisation well or something where you are good. Almost everything is possible!

Please sign up no later than 10am on 4 Sept through the form which is available at  https://elomake.helsinki.fi/lomakkeet/36357/lomake.html .

For further information, please contact Matti Lehto (matti.lehto@hyy.fi, 050 325 8041). The event is on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/401079883271094/

PS. Is your calendar full and you have no time? Write down Night at the Campus event in the event calendar of your organisation and bring your freshmen and other members to this greatest student city festival of the autumn! Make this event your own and come together to have fun!

World Student Capital is the joint design capital project of the University of Helsinki and the student unions and cities in the metropolitan area, made by students for students.

3. JOIN THE CAMPUS EXPO

This year, AYY’s Campus Expo will be organised in Töölö on Monday, 17 Sept and in Otaniemi on Tue, 18 Sept-Wed, 19 Sept. Campus Expo in Arabianranta was already celebrated in connection with the orientation of new students.

In Campus Expo, you can present your association activities to new students, sell overall badges and make new acquaintances. A special feature of this year is that an evening event is organised in Töölö on Monday and on the first Otaniemi Day. The idea is that you can invite new members to get to know your club and sauna facilities. Your association may participate in one or more days.

During the day, display stands will be available between 10am-2pm. Stands include a table and a chair but associations must bring other material by themselves. Registration is open in here, but if you need any additional information, you can get it touch with the organiser of the Campus Expo  Maiju Tompuri maiju.tompuri@ayy.fi.

Campus Expo schedule:

Mon, 17 Sept, the 1st day of the expo: daytime, Töölö

Tue, 18 Sept, the 2nd day of the expo: daytime, the former main building in Otaniemi. In the evening, there is an opportunity to book a few club rooms where you can organise fun association activities which you can promote during the day.

Wed, 19 Sept, the 3rd day of the expo: daytime, the former main building in Otaniemi. The World on Campus event is organised by the internationality section in the evening.

Women’s floorball teams of Otaonnela Floorball Registered Association are looking for new players. Lady1 team plays in the 2nd division and FLOB Lady2 and Lady3 (new team) in the 4th division.

Lady1 includes players who have already played floorball for several years. The team’s goal is to maintain high-quality floorball and stay in the top of the league. Applicants should have a brisk and cheerful attitude and a sense of humour. Previous experience is necessary. The team is looking for a few field players and possibly another goalkeeper.

The goal of Lady2 and the new Lady3 teams is to rise to the 3rd division during the period 2012-2013. Both teams have a coach. Teams are looking for field players who already have floorball experience, who are motivated and willing to develop and have a right attitude. Lady3 is also looking for a goalkeeper.

3. NEW ONLINE SERVICE OSUMA IS LOOKING FOR ASSISTANTS

Fonecta is introducing a new online service called ”Osuma” (available at osuma.fi). Now we need smart writers who are interested in the development of business services in order to get the service to grow and make it as reliable as possible before a major launch. Osuma.fi is a service that provides consumers with reliable and objective information on various business services – whether they are restaurants, car repair shops, renovation companies or clothing stores, for example. The service lists the services needed by customers, such as restaurants in Helsinki, to a rank order based on the received consumer assessments. The service is free for consumers and companies.

In order to make the service as reliable as possible, we naturally need as many assessments as possible on different companies. Now we need a little help from talented writers, as we want the service to function as well as possible at the introduction stage and have so many assessments that

reviews are reliable. The service already has quite a large number of assessments, but it has been quite challenging to receive long assessments (500 characters or more), and now we need help for that. The idea is to find a few groups who use services in the metropolitan area in their everyday lives and who could commit to write these longer assessments for us in May-June  – and naturally receive compensation for one’s community/association. In the service, reviewers use their own name (first name + the first letter of the surname) and a photo so you should be prepared for that. You can see an example of the profile and assessments in my profile:   http://www.osuma.fi/profile/1334815.

If you think that this kind of a job would be interesting for you and your reference group, please get in touch quickly! We want to begin this project in early May, so please act fast. Further information: Hanna Isohanni-Nikula, 040 777 4241, hanna.isohanni-nikula@fonecta.com.

3.     VUORIMIESKILTA GUILD’S LEGENDARY BEER RELAY RACE

Vuorimieskilta Guild’s legendary beer relay race is here again!

It is again the time to gather a student team to run around the Department of Materials Science and Engineering on May Day Eve, as the traditional beer relay race of Vuorimieskilta Guild is approaching! The beer relay will start in the courtyard of the department on Monday morning, 9am, on 30 Apr 2011!

The teams will consist of three (3) runners and one (1)  anchorman = a total of four (4) people. The participation fee is 10 euro and payment information is submitted to contact persons by email.

The registration for the beer relay will begin at 12noon on Thursday, 19 Apr 2011 at  http://vk.ayy.fi/ilmomasiina/. You can sign up for the general series or women’s series. There is room for the first 35 teams! You can also sign up for the waiting list when you can join the competition if any team decides to cancel their participation.

Beer relay rules for the first-timers:

At the starting shot, the anchorman begins to drink. When the anchorman has finished one’s bottle, the first runner will start to run. Halfway through the journey there is a drinks station where a runner must drink one bottle of beer – under the supervision of an official inspector. After this, the runner will continue to the finish line where the anchorman starts over.

Rounds are repeated until the anchorman has destroyed the last drink (and challenged one’s liver). A team, however, can be disqualified due to an incorrect performance determined by the judge. In this case, the performance must be finished when the error is detected.

Let the thirstiest team win!
