Dear student union member: AYY wants to identify what kind of views and images Aalto University students have about the student union, its activities as well as its role in the academic community. We are looking for a respondent’s personal views, so there are no correct answers. All responses will be treated confidentially and it is not possible to identify an individual respondent’s answers. Based on the responses, we will create a communications strategy for AYY, so your response is very valuable!

The survey is open between 2 Apr–2 May and it takes a few minutes to respond to the survey. Among all respondents, we will raffle one gift certificate of 200 euro and two gift certificates of 50 euro to Tiketti. Participation in the draw requires submitting your contact details at the end of the survey.  For further information on the survey, please contact AYY’s Organisation Joonas JylhĂ€ (joonas.jylha@ayy.fi).

1. AYY’S OPERATING GRANTS 2012

The application for AYY’s operating grant and the submitting of the association notice is ongoing. The application period is 1 March–1 April. Operating grants are open to all associations approved in AYY’s first register. Associations in the second register only fill out the association notice.

The application form is available at https://lomake.ayy.fi/yhdistykset/ayyn-toiminta-avustushakemus/ (form in English coming soon). Further information on the application is available from the Student Union’s organisational sector by email at

jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi. You can also find answers at /en/associations/grants-for-associations/, which has concise information on the operating grant and the scoring model used in the allocation of the grants.

2.  IS YOUR ASSOCIATION’S AYY.FI PROFILE UP TO DATE?

One of the conditions to receive the operating grant in 2012 is to have an updated association profile at ayy.fi. It is advisable to check the situation of your profile immediately. If your association does not have the profile, you should order it before the end of the application period of the operating grant on 1 April 2012. The ayy.fi username needed for the profile can be ordered at webmaster@ayy.fi. Please include your contact information and the association name with the order. Since the association members often change annually, it is recommended that usernames are sent directly to the general e-mail address of the association (such as info@yhdistys.fi) so that they are forwarded to new members.

Association profiles should be trilingual. Translations may be ordered through AYY from Joonas JylhÀ (joonas.jylha@ayy.fi).

3. SUBMIT YOUR EVENT FOR AYY’S ACADEMIC YEAR CALENDAR 2012 – 2013

Associations and actors within AYY have the opportunity to submit important event dates for the Student Union’s academic year calendar. Events can be submitted through the Google docs file linked below until Sunday, 27 May 2012. Please add your events under the correct month in chronological order. Please enter your text in the calendar field ”Event name/Text”(yellow background). Please note that one line can hold up the maximum of 25 characters of text, including spaces. When writing the text, please consider how many lines from your own calendar you would like to be ”wasted”. When planning the text, please take into account that the calendar is trilingual.

If there are several events marked on the same date, the event that is available for most students will be added in the calendar. Files are editable until the deadline 27 May 2012, until which you can make changes to your events. Please fill out the columns carefully and check and double check that the information is correct. Please also remember to include information on who is organising the event. Questions and comments are received by AYY’s Communications Officer Henna Lahti (henna.lahti@ayy.fi or 050 5209440).
