Finland’s oldest academic symphony orchestra, the Polytech Orchestra, invites you to the Christmas concerts at the Ritarihuone building in Helsinki on Tuesday 4th December at 7pm, and at Uusi Paviljonki in Kauniainen on Friday 7th December at 7pm.

The concerts begin with Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, which offers demonic thunder and thrilling moments. Cello Concerto No. 1 by Shostakovich will culminate the first half of the concert, with Tuomas Järvensivu as virtuoso soloist. The Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky lets the orchestra to show its talent by balancing between melodramatic yearning and mellow enthusiasm.

The concerts are conducted by Petri Komulainen.
