KYN is one of the leading female choirs in Finland and in the world. KYN’s merit list in the year 2017 includes a Grand Prix -win and a special prize for outstanding stage performance in Berlin, placing #6 in the world ranking of female choirs and the title of the Choir of the year.

KYN has been commended for its original repertoire of ethnic jazz, expressiveness and uniform, yet vivid sound resembling that of a vocal group. With its music, the choir moves the listener on an emotional level and tells a story – even across linguistic and cultural borders.

Singers in KYN are women of different ages and areas of work or study who share a passion for choir music. We take a professional attitude towards our hobby and for us singing in a choir is a way of life. If you think and feel the same, you might be a future KYN-singer, “kynnitär”!

YOU’RE THE SINGER WE’RE LOOKING FOR IF

– you speak Finnish

– you have a good ear for music, sense of rhythm and quality of voice

– you have prior experience in singing in a choir

– you can read sheet music and solmizate adequately, i.e. sing from the sheet music

– you have quick adopting skills

– you want to make music ambitiously and want to develop as a singer and a as performer

– you’re ready to commit in a long-term to a challenging and rewarding hobby

KYN rehearses on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm at Aalto University School of Business in Töölö,Helsinki (from 2019 onwards in Otaniemi, Espoo).

 

AUDITION AND SIGNING UP

– The auditions are held on Mon September 24 at 5.30-9 pm at Aalto University School of Business (Runeberginkatu 14-16, Helsinki).

– In the audition, your basic musicality like ear for music and sense of rhythm as well as solmization skills and ability to sing in voices are tested.
