Fossil Free Europe -tour from London @ Aalto Design Factory

1.11.2013 21:00—23:30

Did you know that over 80% of the remaining fossil fuels on Earth are technically unburnable in regards of the current climate science? [1]

In order to reduce the chance of exceeding 2°C global warming to 20%, the global carbon budget for 2010-2050 is calculated to be 565 GtCO2. However, the total carbon potential of the Earth’s known fossil fuel reserves is 2795 GtCO2. The fossil fuel reserves held by the top 100 listed coal, oil and gas companies have 756 GtCO2 worth of potential emissions in their reserves. [1]

The business models of the fossil fuel producing companies are not reflecting the reality. Still, many public institutions like universities, cities and religious communities are supporting these companies with their investments.

For this reason 350 Finland invites everyone to join us at Aalto University’s Aalto Design Factory for a live streaming of350.org’s Fossil Free Europe tour event from London. This screening is totally free of charge and we hope get the place filled up with university students especially from the Helsinki region.

“The Fossil Free Europe Tour isn’t your typical lecture – it will include speakers from across social movements, powerful videos, and music from the ground-breaking artist Filastine. We’ll hear stories from student activists, faith campaigners, community energy leaders, and will be joined on video by the likes of author Naomi Klein and former Archbishop Desmond Tutu.” –Fossil Free Europe
