Spring Tour Concert of the Polytech Orchestra in Rauma

24.3.2012 17:00—19:00

Jean Sibelius: Pohjola’s Daughter op. 49
Felix Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, solo violin by Silja Fontana
Johannes Brahms: Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73

The concert begins with the sparkling tone poem Pohjola’s Daughter by Jean Sibelius, which introduces the orchestra at its largest. Violin Concerto by Mendelssohn will culminate the first half of the concert, with Silja Fontana as virtuoso soloist. The Symphony No. 2 by Brahms offers some interpretative challenges for the orchestra, as the atmospheres vary from cheery and pastoral to unbearable melancholy and yet to triumph.

The concert is conducted by Petri Komulainen.

Tickets 13 / 7 euro are available from the players as well as from the orchestra web page www.polyteknikkojenorkesteri.fi and from the door prior to the concert.
