All Aalto staff and students are welcome to join the opening day festivities on the Otaniemi campus.

According to academic tradition the opening ceremony starts at 13.15 with an academic procession.

After the opening ceremony thousands of students and staff members get together in Alvarin aukio square for Aalto Party. The party starts at 16.00 with a traditional tug of war between the student union board and the university management. The festival-like event offers live music and delicious food in addition to a chance to see old friends and make new ones.

At Aalto Party, many of the student organisations are presenting themselves and their activities. These organisations are always looking for new members – so chances are you’ll find some like-minded students there! Whether you are a student or staff member, the checkpoint card offers you new ways of interacting within the Aalto community.

In addition to all this, the undergraduates from the School of Business move Otaniemi this year and to celebrate this, there will be a spectacular welcoming ceremony!

Don’t miss the first party of the year – a day when all the professors, staff members and students meet in the same park. This is a suberb way to start the academic year of 2015–2016.
