1. Parliamentary elections are approaching – AYY is participating

Index circus at Narinkkatori Square on Tuesday, 1 March, 11am-1pm

From the first day of March, student financial aid will be the only minimum benefit which is not tied to the index describing the development of the cost of living. The real value of the student grant has decreased by 13 % since 1992, even though it was increased in 2008. What a CIRCUS!

Come and see the circus in Narinkkatori Square in Helsinki on Tuesday, 1 March, 11am-1pm and hear what has happened to student financial aid. Come and show your support for justice so that student financial aid would also be tied to the index on 1 January 2012.

The new website for Aalto students, opened later in the spring, was named Into. ”The name refers strongly to the community spirit of Aalto students, their active attitude and energy”, the jury explains.

The website name was found through a name contest organised in January. All in all, we received 165 great name suggestions. The name was chosen by a panel consisting of Vice Rector Martti Raevaara, Communications Manager Tapio Hedman and Student Oula Antere.

The new website includes information related to studies and the university services for Aalto Students and current news related to studying and Aalto University. The site aims to improve the university communications for students.
