1. Lunch restaurant at Servin mökki will end its operations on 27 May 2011

Sodexo lunch restaurant located in Servin mökki in Otaniemi will end its business operations on 27 May 2011. Currently, there are no plans to launch a new restaurant and therefore it is no longer possible to have lunch at Servin mökki. The reason for this are the costs; the Student Union’s costs for catering operations have clearly exceeded the rental income.

It is still possible to have lunch in Otaniemi in Dipoli’s lunch restaurant on Saturdays.

2. Private parking control introduced in Teekkari Village

Q-Park Services will start parking control of the outdoor and parking areas of AYY’s student dormitories on 1 June 2011. Parking is permitted only in marked parking spaces, in accordance with terms and guidelines on the parking signs. Failure to comply with parking terms may result in a parking ticket. Parking control does not cost anything to AYY, and AYY does not collect any profit from the operations.

Parking permits will be introduced in the parking space at the end of Servin Maijan tie (Servin Maijan tie 12). Those who have reclaimed a parking space can receive the permit from AYY’s housing office at Otakaari 11. Diagonal parking spaces on Servin Maijan tie (between Servinkuja 1 – Servin Maijan tie 12) remain free of charge for residents and persons using the services in the area, however, parking time is limited to 24 hours and parking time must be indicated with a parking disc.

Private parking control is introduced because there are many rescue roads crossing Teekkari Village and the Student Union must ensure their accessibility. Vehicles parked incorrectly on rescue roads and parking areas have been a problem for years and the Student Union has not been able to intervene preventively. Vehicles parked on rescue roads hinder or, at worst, prevent the access of rescue vehicles in case of fire, for example, and this poses a real safety risk to residents. In addition, vehicles have been parked incorrectly for years on parking space rented for residents at the end of Servin Maijan tie.
