If you are interested, please send an e-mail to anna.af.hallstrom@ayy.fi and express your interest! You can also send individual ideas related to environmental issues.

4. Lectures open to the public on citizens’ initiative on 28 Feb and 2 March

The national citizens’ initiative will be launched in Finland on 1 March and the EU’s citizens’ initiative will be launched on 1 April. The national citizens’ initiative provides the opportunity to request one’s initiative for parliamentary debate. With the EU’s citizens’ initiative, citizens may influence European affairs crossing the borders.

Which issues can be proposed with the citizens’ initiative? What do the initiatives require? How else can citizens influence legislative work in Finland and the EU?

Uusimaa Europe Information and Parliament’s Information Department organise two lectures in finnish open to the public at the Visitors’ Centre in the Little Parliament:

Tue, 28 Feb, 12.30pm-1.30pm Citizens’ initiative: new national means of influencing, Chair of the Constitutional Law Committee, Member of Parliament Johannes Koskinen

Fri, 2 March, 1pm-2pm EU’s citizens’ initiative – how to have influence? Member of the European Parlament Anneli Jäätteenmäki

Coffee is provided before the events. Welcome!
