2. Bachelor’s Graduate Survey is open until 21 Mar

All students who have completed the bachelor’s degree at Aalto University between 1 Aug–31 Dec 2013 will be invited to participate in the Bachelor’s Graduate Survey at the beginning of March. The survey is conducted in all Finnish universities twice a year and the survey of this spring is open between 3 Mar–21 Mar. You can respond to the survey electronically and the link is sent to those who have completed the Bachelor’s degree via e-mail.

The Ministry for Education and Culture of Finland is planning that 3% (approx. EUR 50 M) of basic funding allocated to universities will be based on student feedback from 2015 onwards. In addition to direct financial impact, Aalto University will use the results for the development of education and support services for education.

7. Participate in the making of the development cooperation week!

Are you interested in global issues? Would you like to know more about the interrelation of development and education? Do you have a secret or a very open wish to make the world a better place?

AYY will organise a development co-operation week in October with a central theme education and development. The aim of the week is to increase awareness of global questions and development co-operation among university students as part of a national campaign by the National Union of University Students (SYL).  If you are excited about or want to learn more about development co-operation, join our first meeting at AYY’s Central Office (Otakaari 11) upstairs in the negotiation room on Tuesday, 18 March at 5pm for more information!

You do not need to have a grand vision or experience in the field. Everyone (any background, any level of skill, any interests) is welcome to hear the info and share their ideas, even if you will not be in Finland for the autumn semester. If you cannot make it, just drop a line to teija.lehmuskoski@aalto.fi and we will be in touch.

8. WWF Earth Hour, Sat, 29 Mar 14, 8.30pm-9.30pm – turn the lights off!

Aalto, AYY and Aalto University Properties challenge all members of our community to celebrate WWF Earth Hour on Saturday, 29 Mar 2014, 8.30pm-9.30pm.

AYY participates in the campaign by turning off the lights in the central office in Otaniemi and Arabia and Töölö service points and by encouraging students to turn off the lights in student housing and rental facilities. AYY also challenges the associations to turn off the lights in club rooms and events during the Earth Hour.

Aalto University Properties Ltd will participate in WWF Earth Hour by turning off the lights in three buildings on Töölö Campus and in the following buildings on Otaniemi Campus: Tietotalo, TUAS Building, Library and Lämpömiehenkuja 2. Outdoor lighting cannot be turned off.
