3. Mosaic’s Cafe Lingua – Neptune’s realm

Do you think that your language skills are a bit rusty? Would you like to learn how to talk like a native speaker or chat with people from all around the world? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then Café Lingua is definitely meant for you! Once every month, one of the lovely venues of Otaniemi will turn into a café hosting an open language exchange event, the Café Lingua. All the the cafés will have an unique theme.

People interested in a certain language will gather around the same table to talk in that language with native speakers. The point is to practice languages in small groups, meet people, learn about cultures and enjoy a cup of coffee or other refreshment! When you arrive to the café, find a table of your interest or start a new one. All languages and skill levels are warmly welcome!

This time Mosaic brings out the submarines and tridents when Cafe Lingua goes underwater on the 5th of March. Join us in an adventure into Neptune’s realm full of marine wonders at Rantasauna and meet fellow adventurers in the spirit of Cafe Lingua. Tea, coffee and not-that-fishy treats will also be served.

  • WHAT: Mosaic’s Cafe Lingua – Neptune’s realm
  • WHEN: Thursday, 5 March, 6pm-10pm
  • WHERE: Rantasauna, Otaniemi
  • HOW MUCH: Free of charge
  • WHY: Meet other (marine) mammals and learn their languages!

5. International tutors are needed!

Do you want to help international students to get a smooth start in their studies and guide them through student life at Aalto University? Would you like to try your intercultural skills in practice?

International tutors have a very important role in leading an international group, showing them around the campus and holding get-togethers. Tutors get to know new cultures, make new friends and have a great time! Tutors can also get a credit point, tutor certificate and reimbursement for the expenses.

More information about international tutoring can be found from AYY webpage.

Enthusiastic international tutors are searched right now. Student associations coordinate tutoring together with Aalto schools (CHEM, ELEC, ENG and SCI, BIZ and ARTS). You find the tutor recruiting forms of different associations HERE.

6. One week left to design a new logo for Mosaic

Mosaic challenges all Aalto members to a great contest! Our logo needs to be renovated in order to better reflect the issues that are important for Mosaic: the exchange of ideas, world views and opinions between nations and cultures. How can we fit all this in one picture? This is an assignment and challenge for you!

Use your favourite tools to design a logo which, in your opinion, reflects the internal essence of Mosaic and send the logo by email to mosaic@list.ayy.fi with your contact details. When designing the logo, please use vector graphics. Please submit your entry by Sunday, 8 Mar, 11.59pm. After this, Mosaic and AYY’s internationality sector will evaluate the entries.
