2.    Submit your events for AYY’s academic year calendar 2016-2017

Associations and actors within AYY have the opportunity to submit important event dates for the student union’s academic year calendar. Events can be submitted through the google docs file linked below until Sunday, 29 May 2016. Please add your events under the correct month in chronological order. Please enter the text you want in the calendar ”Event name/Text” field (yellow background). Please note that one line can hold up the maximum of 25 characters of text, including spaces. When writing the text, please consider how many lines from your own calendar you wish to be ”wasted”. The calendar is trilingual so please take this into account when planning the text.

If there are several events marked on the same date, the event that concerns most of the students will end up in the calendar. The file is editable until the provided deadline 29 May 2016, until which you can make changes to your events. Please fill out the columns carefully, and check and double check that the information is correct. Please also remember to include information on who is organising the event.

5.    The Annual Ball week: Flower Day 13.5. – The picnic, message and afterparty

On the Friday of the Annual Ball week of the AYY, 13.5, from 3 pm to 6 pm the Otaranta park area will burst into its full splendour when the students of the Student Union gather on the seashore lawn to salute the traditional day of celebration of students and the birthday of the Teekkarivillage with a relaxed picnic.

In the afternoon, there is also one of Otaniemi’s more obscure student traditions: a canoe is launched, with which the representatives of the Student Union paddle to take the message of the Flower Day to a person who is important to the students. Come and follow the live stream with commentary and see who the message will be given to this year!

From the Flower Day picnic, it’s good to move to the Rantasauna, where a grand evening party is being held! The sauna will be dressed up as a gorgeous party space, where you can find both a steamy jazz cavern and a lively dancefloor, as well as the hot sauna side. 7.    Master student, apply to the Aalto university mentoring programme! DL 10.5.

“Mentors are University graduates, our alumni. As a student (mentee) you will get support and guidance how to face working life, especially in another culture, a chance to improve your job application skills and a unique possibility to build your network among a cross-disciplinary group of professionals.

Application period 1.4.–10.5.

Grab the chance for a great opportunity: http://alumninet.aalto.fi/mentoring

8.    The beginning of the season of OtaKoppi on 11.5. and recruitment for the women’s team

The pesäpallo (Finnish baseball) club OtaKoppi is finally moving to play outdoors and the summer season is beginning on Wednesday, 11.5. at 6 pm on the Tuuliniitty field, marking the first baseball of the summer. There’s no summer baseball on 18.5., but after that the games continue on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level; bring your friends along too to play!

You can find further information about the activity from the pages at http://otakoppi.fi and from the board of the club (otakoppi-hallitus@list.ayy.fi).

We’d still like to get some players for the women’s team of OtaKoppi in the summer. We play in a women’s regional league which is the lowest league level of the Southern pesäpallo conference, so there aren’t any particularly great ability requirements. Enthusiasm and a desire to play are enough! You can contact the board’s e-mail list if relaxed playing in good company interests you!
