Welcome to Dominante’s club room Fermaatti, located in Jämeräntaival 5B’s basement.

In 1984, the Polytech Chamber Choir (Polyteknikkojen kamarikuoro, PKK) was given a room in Jämeräntaival 5B’s basement. Since then, the club room built by volunteers has been named Fermaatti, and the choir has changed its name to Dominante, but the room, which is almost in its original condition, sees more use now than ever.

Fermaatti serves as a rehearsal and party venue for Dominante and as a home base that is full of memories, stories and awards from dozens of trips the choir has taken around the world.

JMT is facing a pipeline renovation, which means that we have to give up our beloved home base for a while, but before that, we want to offer you the unique opportunity to see the original club room of Finland’s most successful mixed choir and find out more about its history and traditions by opening the doors to the public on Saturday, the 9th of December between 14:00 and 16:00. There will also be teekkari history present at the club room: Timo Tirkkonen, one of the original builders of Fermaatti.

Fermaatti is located in the basement of JMT5B, and the entrance is behind the building next to the shore.

13. Female Choir KYN: Tuikkikaa (”Twinkle”) Christmas concert

KYN’s Tuikkikaa Christmas concert honors Finland’s 100th anniversary, taking the audience on a trip amidst the Finnish winter and Christmas, a Christmas that is so familiar and dear to all. The story of Christmas, which always feels new and wonderful, is told through the most beloved Christmas songs by Jean Sibelius, Selim Palmgren and Leevi Madetoja, and by the compositions by Jussi Chydenius and Mia Makaroff, creating newer Christmas traditions.

We warmly welcome you on this trip with us amidst the sparkling snow and twinkling stars. KYN will sing the Christmas to you.

14. BEER AND BIBLE at the Gallow’s Bird pub on the 13th of December at 17:30

”When I preach, I preach so that even a 7-year-old child can understand it. But when me and Master Melanchthon drink beer in the cellar and talk about theology, even God up in Heaven is astonished by our learning.”- Martin Luther (1483-1546)

Join the discussion, learn new things and get to know to new people! We are hosting an easily accessible Bible circle for students and young adults at the Gallow’s Bird pub on Wednesday, the 13th of December at 17:30. The Bible teaching is held by priest and doctoral student Heidi Zitting. The pub is located in Niittykumpu, and it is easy to reach. Food and drinks are available at the pub, and dogs and baby strollers are allowed. The masterminds behind the Bible circle are lovers of beer and the Bible from Tapiola, Stina and Ilmar Metsalo. The Aalto chaplains and the Tapiola parish are also involved. For more information, contact Aalto chaplain Marjut Mulari: marjut.mulari@evl.fi / 0503652256.
