On Sunday this week, it is time to vote in the parliamentary election. The advance voting is still ongoing today, Monday 8 Apr, and tomorrow, Tuesday 9 Apr. You can vote in advance at any polling station, for example, in the Harald Herlin Learning Centre. You only need to bring a photo ID. 1. Wappu.fi lists First of May happenings at one address

2. Dipoli Wappu on 30 Apr – Come party and/or apply to volunteer

The most expected Wappu party is back again! Speed like a supernova to Dipoli on 30 Apr to shake your tail feather, to charm all listeners with your karaoke classics and to put on your cap together with everyone as midnight strikes. This is a party you really don’t want to miss! The event’s artists will be announced soon, so stay tuned.

The shift includes about 6 hours of work and the cleaning at the end. The workers will be rewarded with a VIP entrance, afterparty, Wappu baskets and buses to UllanlinnanmÀki in the morning!

3. Spring Concert of the Polytech Orchestra in Dipoli

The Polytech Orchestra gives a spring concert with Asian flavours, Slavic poetry and the beloved 7th Symphony by Beethoven. The orchestra is conducted by James Kahane.

4. Otaniemi Night of Arts 2019 takes place on Sat 21 Sept – registration open now!

Otaniemi Night of Arts, the interdisciplinary campus festival organised by Aalto University Student Union, takes place on Saturday 21 Sept for the second time. Last year, the festival brought thousands of visitors from around the capital region to enjoy more than 50 events organised by Aalto people from the afternoon into the night. The event will once again be put on as a collective effort of the Aalto community. Start stewing your ideas and register your event for the festival’s programme by the beginning of August.

5. Ciné pays you a visit short film screening in Otaniemi on Wed 24 Apr at 8 pm

Espoo CinĂ© and AYY’s Steering Group of Artistic Activities are organising a collaborative and free-of-charge short film screening as part of the CinĂ© pays you a visit tour on Wednesday 24 Apr at 6 pm in Otaniemi. The event will feature a retrospective of Teemu Nikki, the director of the praised Armomurhaaja film and the #lovemilla TV series. There are limited seats for the screening, and the exact location will be revealed to the participants by email. 6. Welcome to join the Kino Sheryl gang!

Kino Sheryl is a cinema owned by TOKYO that operates at LeipÀtehdas in the heart of Kallio. We are now looking for people who are interested in developing the cinema to join the operations. Do you want to plan and execute communications, special programmes, events or cooperation with other operators? Come along to work on Kino Sheryl!

You can take part in the Kino Sheryl gang as much as you want and the way you want. The group meets every 1–2 weeks, but you do not have to make it to every meeting. The first meeting will take place soon, so if you want to join us, send an email to mari.ljokkoi@kinosheryl.fi with the heading “Kino Sherylin jengi” [Kino Sheryl gang]. Later on, we will also assemble a new Board for Kino Sheryl from the people who have been actively involved.

*The applicant has completed the diploma work “Vuoriteollisuusolosuhteiden vaikutus teekkari-insinööritransformaation mekanismiin” [The Impact of Mining Industry Circumstances on the Mechanism of the Teekkari–Engineer Transformation] in 1971. The work was overseen by Prof. Aimo Mikkola.

*The applicant has defended his doctoral thesis in the grand lecture hall of the Department of Engineering Materials on 26 Nov 2007, Doctoral thesis topic: “Elinkaaren kattavat kĂ€yttĂ€ytymisohjeet” [Lifespan-Covering Behavioural Instructions]

*The applicant has been promoted in a ceremonious degree ceremony with the title Doctor of Technology extra ordinem ioci causa (e.o.i.c) by promotor Prof. Olavi Nevanlinna on 2 Apr 2008.

*The applicant’s specific research and teaching has focused on charting the occurrences of the group condensation of the Teekkari spirit, as well as on research on how susceptible a master of technology can be to the influence of their immediate environment. Since then, the applicant has focused especially on energy storage as well, more specifically in adaptations of earth radiation.

This year, in honour of Skipoli’s 45th anniversary year, the Skipoli Surf Camp is heading to Southeast Asia to the PHILIPPINES!!! Innovate with Europe’s top university-based 5G testing and experimental network at the 48-hour hackathon taking place on 3–5 May at Aalto University, Finland. The COMNET 5G IoThon is aimed at master’s and doctoral students as well as developers. Corporate partners include Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens and Telia, each posing a specific challenge. There will be a prize for each challenge and one COMNET prize worth 5000 euros.
