Apply together with your friend!

Hey student, are you looking for a home? Would you like to move in with your friend? Would you like to get the apartment fast? Do you see yourself living with other awesome people?

This is your lucky day because now it is possible!

Apply together with your friend for the same shared apartment. AYY has a new pilot where you can apply together for the same shared apartment. The lease contract starts 1st of August and each tenant has their own lease.

Do you need more information about what it means to move into a single room in a shared apartment? One apartment can have 2-12 single rooms and a common space with a kitchen, possible living room, toilet and/or bathroom. Keeping the common areas clean is the responsibility of all tenants. The room doors have locks that only work with the tenant’s key. Communal spaces can be accessed with any of the tenant keys. These shared single room apartments are for students and exchange students studying in Aalto University, who are members of AYY.

You can apply starting from 17th of June until 26th of June. The lease starts at 1st of August and you can get the keys already one week before on the 25th of July.

Please note! These apartments will only be rented starting 1st August, not later.

AYY members with right of residence are able to apply these apartments. More information here.

We will offer the apartments on the 26th and 27th of June so remember to check your email. If you already live in a AYY apartment, please sign the new lease first and Domo will automatically send you a notice of the current apartment.

If you are interested, please contact us with this form.

Are you looking for an apartment for July & August 2019?

In the summer, AYY often has vacant apartments that can be rented to temporary residents with fixed-term contracts. In the summer, mainly anyone can become a tenant if applicants do not include an adequate number of AYY’s members eligible for housing or other students. The summer housing season is from 1st of May unti 31st of August. Summer tenants are mostly offered fixed-term contracts of 2-4 months.

Ths summer apartments are usually located in Otaniemi, Espoo or in East Helsinki. Unfortunately we don’t have any studios available for summer apartments. We will make offers on the apartments that are available.

How to apply

Use this form to let us know that you are interested in a summer apartment. We will contact you if we have any suitable apartments available.

Housing rents do not change in any way during the summer months. Rental information is available on the Domo system.

Please note that all AYY’s apartments are unfurnished.

Applications for the renovated Jämeräntaival 3 A apartments are open from the 28th of May to the 11th of June!

In August 2019 the renovation of Jämeräntaival 3 A will be completed and most of the apartments in the building are shared studios. Residents can move in to the apartments starting from the 1st of August 2019.

The AYY Board has decided that all AYY’s members with valid right of residence are given equal opportunity to apply for the Jämeräntaival 3 A apartments. Lots will be drawn to determine who gets an apartment.

The application process for the apartments differs somewhat from the usual:

  • You can apply for the apartments between the 28th of May and 11th of June 2019.
  • The place in the queue for all applications submitted within the deadline will be drawn by lot.
  • The lots will be drawn within different score groups.
  • After the 11th of June 2019, the applications will continue according to the normal queuing process.

A shared studio apartment is a cross between a shared apartment and a studio. Each tenant has a personal room with their own toilet/bathroom and a kitchenette, equipped with a fridge, oven and stove. Keeping the communal spaces clean and tidy is the responsibility of the tenants.

Read the application instructions here.

Find out more about the apartments and send your application to us via Domo starting Tuesday 28th May.

More information about the building & location

Jämeräntaival 3 was one of the first residential buildings to be constructed in the Teekkari Village. Work to build the Teekkari Village began in the 1950s when the decision was made to move the Helsinki University of Technology from Helsinki to Otaniemi, Espoo. Before the students moved in, Jämeräntaival 3 housed the athletes competing in the 1952 Summer Olympics!

Jämeräntaival 3 underwent renovations in 2018-2019. In connection with the renovation, the decision was made to move away from the larger shared apartments and to build studios and studio rooms in shared apartments, which better suit the living preferences of students today. The apartments’ surface materials, fixtures and fittings were replaced during the renovation and the apartments are ideal with regard to their condition and location. The building also contains spaces available to rent, such as the Rooftop sauna and the Takka Cabinet, and is therefore an essential part of the active student culture in the Teekkari Village.
