Aalto Avalanche 2011

Alvarin aukio
Otaniemi
4.2.2011 12:30—16:30

The greatest winter sport ’n art competition since 2011!

The show is simple. We make the games, you make the teams and compete in a selection of 3 courageous and fitting winter games for glory and Alvar’s spirit. The winner is bestowed with eternal honor among peers and freed from ever again having to attend the games. Gladiatorial style! All this on Fri 4.2 12.30 at Alvar’s Plaza, Otaniemi.

Wikipedia has this to say about Avalanche;

An avalanche is a sudden rapid flow of snow down a slope, occurring when either natural triggers or human activity causes a critical escalating transition from the slow equilibrium evolution of the snow pack

Reported injuries since 2011: 0,23 + 2 wet shoes

The Games are:

Cubeball in the snow:

You thought football sucked? How about we make the ball a half-meter cube and kick it in half meter snow? You’ll piss sweat for a week.

Snow War:

Oh the good old nostalgia from childhood! Snow fortresses and childish snow ball throwing. Yeah right.

Train your team to this ultra tactical game of steal the flag and tag. Once the opposing team is a pile of snow and their flags stolen, your job is done. But let’s keep this one clean, gentlemen?

Snow sculpting:

And for the whole days worth of epicly sustainable and brain heavy activity we have snow sculpting! The creativity unleashed from this activity can be smelled for days to come. (Bring your own sculpting tools, whatever they may be)

So what are you waiting for? Or are you an iceBLOCKHEAD? Do we need to make things KISS? (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Well. Here’s the shortlist of WHAT TO DO:

1. View our homepage for information about Aalto Avalanche.

2. Gather a team of 6-14 specialists, ready to rock and awe.

3. Sign your team with our electromagnetical form.

4. CHALLENGE another team/association or opponent to a 1-1 MATCH! Those wretched souls won’t know what hit ‘em. (Don’t worry if you don’t have anyone to challenge, we’ll find you worthy competition)

5. Train your teams mind, body and soul to a fight of the century.

6. Arrive at Alvars’ Plaza @ Otaniemi, Fri 4.2, 12.30 to start the Avalanche

The competition program is provided in Finnish by default, depending on how many international teams are attending. Joining the competition is free. Competition includes music.

Time to gather your team, begin daily tactics meetings and major strength training, because this year we are kicking behinds!

Start taking names.
